Design Brief
From Works is an architecture and interiors studio working on bespoke projects in the UK. The company is looking to expand their offering by developing ranges of furniture that clients can customize and purchase for their home. I was tasked with designing an affordable item of furniture users can customize, that also has the potential to become part of a larger range of furniture.

Social Interaction:
Although families live together, many individuals are looking for more opportunities to unwind and interact with family members at the end of a busy day.

Hygge and mental health are becoming more prominent post COVID-19. Many individuals are wanting furniture that uses soothing tactile materials and exudes a feeling of cosiness to help them remain in the moment.
The Process
Outcome
Designed around the moment of relaxation at the end of a day. Koseilg is a Norwegian concept that represents cosiness and intimacy in a social setting. This chair embraces those qualities and celebrates the craft of steam bending, creating an inviting space to sit that wraps around the user. The chair is constructed from sustainably sourced oak and ash, with a waxed canvas upholstery, which can be re-waxed to prolonging its life.
Designed for a moment. This chair focuses on the moment of relaxation at the end of a busy day, creating a comforting space to relax, either alone or with your family.
